Am I eligible for the M.Ed. program?
You are eligible to apply for admission if you have a bachelor鈥檚 degree from a regionally accredited college or university听听and a teaching license.
What are the requirements for the program?
All specialty areas require successful completion of 33-34 credit hours. On completion of the program you earn a North Carolina 鈥淢鈥 license.听
How long will it take to complete the program?
You can complete the M.Ed. program in as few as two or as many as six years. Typically, students complete the program in two and a half听years.
When are classes held?
Classes are held one night a week between the hours of 5:00 鈥 7:50 p.m. in the fall and spring semesters. Summer sessions are six weeks and classes meet twice a week from 5:00-8:30 p.m.
Can I afford private graduate college tuition?
Yes, 缅北禁地鈥檚 graduate tuition is听for $500 per credit hour, which is comparable with area private and public colleges and universities. Meredith has a $100听graduate student fee each semester for the M.Ed. program. Also, teacher tuition assistance and scholarships are available if you qualify. Am I eligible for the Teacher Appreciation Grant?
You must be fully enrolled in a master鈥檚 degree program to qualify for the Teacher Appreciation Grant. Post-baccalaureate and add-on licensure only students are not eligible.
What if I'm only seeking add-on licensure in ESL, literacy, or special education?
You can elect to take the course work for听add-on licensure听in the areas of听ESL, literacy,听and special education. Application requirements are the same as those for the master鈥檚 program and work can be applied to a master鈥檚 program at Meredith.
Can I take master's level classes for continuing education or license renewal?
You can take master鈥檚 classes as a non-degree student toward renewal of your teaching license. Two classes or six credit hours of coursework can later be applied to a master鈥檚 degree program at Meredith. It is the responsibility of students to secure approval from the N.C. Department of Public Instruction prior to pursuing coursework.
What if I am seeking my first teaching license?
The M.Ed. program is for those who have already met the requirements for the initial teaching license. Lateral entry teachers or others who wish to earn their initial Class A North Carolina teaching license through 缅北禁地 should call the Department of Education at (919) 760-8316 to inquire about the听Master of Arts in Teaching听program or the听undergraduate听teacher education program.
Are Meredith's teacher education programs accredited?
缅北禁地 is a member in good standing of the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP), a national accrediting organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. All of the Education programs have been awarded full accreditation by AAQEP through December 31, 2029.
