There are several fees associated with music study which you should include in your financial aid calculations:

- For a Music major or minor – $200.00 per 1 credit hour (half-hour of weekly instruction and weekly repertoire class.)
- Average credit hours/semester for music major – 3-4
- For a non-music major: $475.00 per 1 credit hour (half-hour of weekly instruction.)
Enriching the tradition of a strong music program, Meredith offers competitive scholarships to recognize outstanding musicians. These awards are renewed annually, for a total of four years, subject to the recipient’s remaining in good standing, being a full-time student pursuing a major in music, and maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.0 on all courses taken at Meredith. Note: Students applying for talent scholarships are encouraged to apply to the College using the Early Action Application Plan and must be admitted to the College by the Talent Scholarship Application Deadline.
To apply for a music scholarship, please complete our Music Scholarship Application听 *Log in using the Admissions Applicant Portal Temporary PIN or password you established after you submitted your application for admission to the College.
Your Music Scholarship Application will ask you to provide the following:
- Contact Information (much of this will be pre-populated when you create your account in the applicant portal)
- Resume – detailing your school and community activities. Your resume should include any activities, awards or recognitions relevant to the scholarship(s) you have selected.
- Recommendation(s) – In addition to submitting the application, you will be asked to provide the to one or more music professional(s) familiar with your work.
- Essay – You will be asked to upload a brief essay describing your involvement with music. Your essay should be one-to-two typed pages and include the following points:
- What initially interested you in music?
- How did you continue your musical study and activities since your first contact with music?
- What part does music presently play in your life?
- What are your hopes and dreams for your future?
- What do you think you will be doing ten years from now, and what part do you think music will play in your life at that time?
- Portfolio (Optional) – You may choose to create a portfolio of your musical and/or audition material online. If you choose to do so, please provide the URL to your portfolio听 in the application.
The application deadline for scholarships and admittance to the program is April 15, 2026.听 You must audition to be considered for acceptance into the music program.听 Applicants who live too far away to audition in person at Meredith may arrange to send a video recording in lieu of a personal audition. To be considered for Music Talent Scholarship students must be admitted to the college. Scholarship recipients are selected based on musical talent, academic ability, previous performance, commitment to the field of music, and potential achievement in the field. Students who audition in voice, piano, or another instrument will interview with the music faculty. Scholarship recipients will be notified by mid March.听Learn more about auditions for the Music Department. Initial scholarship notifications will be sent out within a month after auditioning.听
