The Undergraduate Research Advisory Committee (URAC) considers travel and research grant proposals, as well as proposals for the Summer Research Partnership. Funding decisions are based on the overall quality of the proposal and the completeness and accuracy of the application. The URAC will not accept proposals without explicit proposal approval by the student鈥檚 faculty research mentor. The URAC finalizes decisions on individual travel grants only upon confirmation that the student鈥檚 conference proposal has been accepted.

Other factors the advisory committee may consider when making decisions on grant awards include聽

  • The total cost of conference attendance聽
  • Previous funding received for travel from Undergraduate Research聽
  • Relationship of project to the student鈥檚 field of study and future educational and professional goals

Research & Travel Grants

The Undergraduate Research Advisory Committee (URAC) considers proposals for both travel and research grants. Students may apply once per academic year for up to $500.

1. To apply for a research or travel grant, complete the .
2. The Undergraduate Research Advisory Committee uses the following rubric to assess proposals.
3. Direct all questions to research@meredith.edu.

Proposals for research and travel grants are reviewed by the Undergraduate Research Committee twice each semester. Below are some examples of successful travel grant proposals and abstracts.

All funding will operate as reimbursement only. As soon as possible following the
purchase of materials (for a research grant) or the trip (for a travel grant), all receipts must be submitted to research@meredith.edu. We need original receipts, not photocopies or screenshots. Requests for reimbursement should be submitted by individual students, not their faculty mentors.

Summer Research Partnerships

The deadline for applications for the 2026 Summer Research Partnership to be
submitted is TBD.

The Undergraduate Research Committee reviews applications and makes funding recommendations. Rubrics for summer proposals are available on the Undergraduate Research MyMeredith webpage.

We encourage the research work to be done full-time for 35 hours a week for eight weeks. In consultation with faculty mentors, students may propose part-time or interrupted schedules based on the project and particular summer scheduling needs.

Projects that involve student collaborations are highly encouraged, and projects involving up to two students may submit a single application and project outline. Each student involved in the collaboration should outline their contribution to the project, including time commitment.

Individual stipends will depend on individual commitment to the project. Partnerships that blend scholarly research in collaboration with community partners are also encouraged.
