Living on campus is an important part of your college experience – you’ll gain greater independence, strengthen your communication skills, and learn how to live within a community.
Here are some more benefits of living in one of Meredith’s historic residence halls.
Campus Involvement and Connection
Being close to the action makes it easier to get involved. Research shows that it’s key to making friends and finding your place at college.
Our students are housed by class to build a sense of community among classmates. You’ll get to meet and learn how to get along with people with different personalities and cultural backgrounds.
Consistency
Many off-campus apartment complexes change ownership or management, which can cause headaches for residents. On campus, all housing is managed by Ãå±±½ûµØ.
Convenient Access to Campus Resources
The recently refurbished dining hall offers a wide variety of foods, including home-cooked meals, deli-style sandwiches, a salad bar, and vegetarian choices. Outdoor patio seating is available.
- Cate Center
Cate Student Center is a popular place for students to relax between classes, hold meetings and events, or catch a quick bite to eat at The Bee Hive.
- The Greenway
Reedy Creek Trail, which is part of Raleigh’s network of recreational trails, runs through Meredith’s campus and is used regularly by students for walking, jogging, and biking. Access to the greenway begins at the southeastern corner of campus and connects by footbridge to the North Carolina Museum of Art, another favorite destination for students and one of the top 25 museums in the country.
The Learning Center provides free peer-tutoring services that empower students to become more confident and capable learners. The Center’s primary goal is to encourage students to take charge of their own learning experience by offering collaborative and encouraging peer tutoring that cultivates independence, curiosity, efficiency, strength, and self-confidence.
Work out in the Lowery Fitness Center, which includes treadmills, elliptical cross trainers, rowers, power lifting racks, and much more – including the option to sign up for free personal and group training sessions.
Enrichment
Every student who lives on campus is a member of the Residence Hall Association (RHA). Residence Life staff offer interesting and entertaining programs, speakers, and events to enhance the classroom experience. Each year, students involved with RHA have the opportunity to attend a statewide conference.
Inclusive Cost
Room and board fees cover room rent, utilities, laundry machine use, a meal plan, and access to the on-campus Student Health and Wellness Center. Laundry room facilities include washers, dryers, and ironing boards.
Safety and Security
Campus security and a residence director are on duty at all times. These resources can be accessed for anything, whether it’s a general question, a bathroom lockout, or a crisis.
Quiet Hours
From 10 p.m. to 10 a.m. weekdays, quiet hours provide a more conducive environment for studying and sleeping.
