缅北禁地

For 35 years, 缅北禁地 has provided exceptional musical training for girls aged 9-18 through the Capital City Girls Choir (CCGC), a program associated with Meredith鈥檚 Community School of Music. Founded by former Music Department Head Fran Page, CCGC has recently named Cameron Bolin as its new artistic director.

Bolin brings 15 years of teaching and choral directing from grades K-12 in the Triangle area. She holds a Bachelor of Music and Master of Arts in Teaching in Music K-12 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is working on her Doctorate in Music Education from Boston University.聽

As one of the first singers of CCGC to participate under the direction of Page, Bolin鈥檚 experiences in the group contributed to her decision to pursue a music career. Bolin is the first artistic director who is an alumna of CCGC.

鈥淚鈥檓 excited to continue the beloved traditions of the group while furthering the excellence of music making and music literacy while building community within our singers and families,鈥� said Bolin.

Impact on Meredith Students

Bolin will collaborate with Meredith鈥檚 new Director of Choral Activities/Coordinator of Music Education, Lindsey Bruner-Woodcock. Meredith music education students will assist with music instruction on a regular basis, and collaborative performances with Meredith choral ensembles will be part of the programming.

鈥淲e are committed to teaching our choristers not only how to sing, but also about the fundamentals of music theory and literacy to set them up for success as lifelong musicians,鈥� said Bolin.

About CCGC and the Community School of Music

The three choirs of CCGC are open to girls from ages 9 through 18. The choirs frequently perform around the Triangle, collaborating with groups such as the North Carolina Opera, Raleigh Camerata, and the Durham Bulls, as well as at various national and international choral festivals. Over the years, the CGCC has performed in venues and locations including the White House, Washington National Cathedral, England, Scotland, Austria, France, and British Columbia.

Open to students of all levels, the Community School of Music offers private lessons, classes, performance opportunities, competition preparation, and concerts to the public. Numerous Meredith music students have been introduced to the College through the Community School.
