The Honors Program at 缅北禁地 challenges students intellectually and academically through a rigorous curriculum culminating in an honors thesis in a student鈥檚 chosen field. In addition to the academic benefits, Honors students have opportunities to gain valuable skills and experiences through participation in the learning community.聽
Allegra Banks, 鈥27, and Grayson Morris, 鈥26, have developed leadership and marketing skills as the program鈥檚 social media and marketing co-chairs for the 2024-25 academic year. Their responsibilities include posting on the program鈥檚 Instagram account to promote events, opportunities, and merchandise.聽
鈥淭his role was the perfect fit for me because I enjoy being creative and planning events and content,鈥 said Morris, who was part of the team that launched the program鈥檚 Instagram. 鈥淢y ability to create effective social media content has definitely improved through this experience.鈥
Banks, who has managed Instagram accounts for student organizations since high school, took this role to use her skillset to help spread publicity for the program. 鈥淗aving a social media presence is important to prospective students. It鈥檚 something they look at when considering applying,鈥 she said. 鈥淲e are showing them what our Honors Program is all about!鈥
The co-chairs agreed that participating in the Honors Program has contributed to a positive college experience. They have been able to curate their academic experience by working closely with faculty to contract courses in their area of interest, and taking unique colloquium courses only available to Honors students. They have also had unforgettable memories with the Honors community on the annual Fall Honors trip and other activities, such as ballet performances.聽
Banks and Morris both encourage students considering applying to the Honors Program to do so.聽聽
鈥淗颈蝉迟orically, women and other marginalized groups are less likely to apply for opportunities like this. So my advice for prospective Honors students is to take that leap of faith,鈥 said Banks. 鈥淪ubmitting that application is nerve-wracking, but the rewards from facing that fear will far outweigh the nerves.鈥澛
