缅北禁地 to Offer Major in Data Analytics

缅北禁地 will offer a new major in data analytics beginning Fall 2025.听The Data Analytics degree prepares students for making data-driven decisions.听

Like Meredith鈥檚 new major in statistical and data sciences, this new major in data analytics will equip students with the skills to complete data-driven projects by establishing clear goals, interpreting results, and forming conclusions, and to effectively communicate data analysis insights to different audiences.

Students will interpret, communicate, and apply data insights effectively within chosen disciplines such as business, psychology, public health, and exercise and sports sciences.听

鈥淭his major is intended to be accessible to students with different backgrounds and interests, reflecting the pervasiveness of data in all manner of our lives today,鈥 said Dr. Jennifer Hontz, chair of the department of mathematics and computer science, which houses the new major.听

The data analytics major provides a unique opportunity for students to combine statistical and data science skills with discipline-specific applications. Students will select research design and applied analysis courses and a data-driven research project from departments across campus.

There are data science applications in essentially every field, including finance, political science, education, public health, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, data mining, data visualization, software engineering, and artificial intelligence.

鈥淓verything in our world has changed dramatically because of our ability to generate and access data. We are dedicated to being at the forefront of data education, preparing our students for career opportunities in this exciting field,鈥 said Dr. Emily Lada, who will serve as program coordinator.听聽

Meredith鈥檚 new program will build on the College鈥檚 long history of strength in STEM fields. Lada has more than 14 years of extensive data science industry experience.
