缅北禁地 Partners With the Myra鈥檚 Angels Foundation

缅北禁地 partnered with the to assemble Angel Care Kits for children experiencing homelessness or entering the foster care system.聽

Through Angel Care Kits, the foundation provides children in need with essential items such as toiletries, clothes, and comfort items.聽聽

The partnership began in the spring 2025 semester when Angels United, a student organization with a mission of giving back to the Meredith community and surrounding communities, collaborated with Myra鈥檚 Angels. Meredith Chaplain Reverend Stacy Pardue said she was impressed by Myra鈥檚 Angels鈥 mission, which led her and the Office of Student Leadership and Service (SLS) to organize a campuswide opportunity to volunteer with the foundation.聽

鈥淢y hope is that participating in service projects like this will inspire empathy for others, emphasize our human obligation to support one another, and bring personal joy and satisfaction,鈥 said Pardue.聽

In October, the chaplain and SLS announced a book drive to collect books for the care kits. The Meredith community donated three large bins full of new and gently used books. On November 18, students, faculty, and staff gathered in the Cate Center to assemble the kits. Participants made bracelets, wrote encouragement cards and bookmarks, and packed pencil pouches.聽聽

Assistant Director of SLS Kacey Reynolds Schedler spoke on the importance of providing service opportunities to students and the Meredith community at large.聽聽

鈥淲hen we do something good for the world, we see ourselves as part of something bigger,鈥 Reynolds Schedler said. 鈥淚 like to say that we are all part of a beautiful human tapestry, woven together as one. Doing service also helps teach those soft skills that employers are looking for: teamwork, communication, empathy, and compassion.鈥
