What鈥檚 DIII Week:

Division III Week is a positive opportunity for all individuals associated with a Division III institution to observe and celebrate the impact athletics and student-athletes have on campus and in the surrounding community. During the week, every Division III school and conference office is encouraged to conduct an outreach activity that falls into one of three categories: academic accomplishment, athletic experience, or leadership/community service/campus involvement. Division III Week is a strategic initiative that achieves its desired impact from a unity of effort. It harnesses everyone working toward the same goal at the same time to build a greater awareness and understanding of Division III athletics.

The event is part of Division III鈥檚 Identity Initiative, which was introduced in 2010 to sharpen the division鈥檚 identity and enable schools, conferences, and student-athletes to consistently explain why they prefer to compete in Division III. The initiative is guided by a strategic-positioning platform, describing Division III as a place where student-athletes can 鈥渇ollow your passions and develop your potential,鈥 through an approach that combines rigorous academics, competitive athletics, and an opportunity to pursue other interests.

Why DIII?

“I love to be involved in a million things. Attending Meredith allowed me to be a coach, a teacher, a volleyball player, a tennis player, and a student. The staff and students were always incredibly supportive in everything I did. You can鈥檛 get that anywhere else.” —Hannah Jo Jablonski, 鈥24, Volleyball & Tennis

鈥淚 chose Division III because it allows me to continue participating in the sport I love while not sacrificing my academics. I specifically picked Meredith because I wanted a close relationship with my professors, coach, and teammates. When I toured campus with Coach Miller, I was impressed with the training and his energy. After that, I knew right away this is where I wanted to be.”聽 — Maddie Morton, Freshman, Indoor & Outdoor Track and Field

鈥淚 chose a DIII school because it offers a balance between academics and athletics. This allows me to continue to play my sport, while also prioritizing my education.鈥 —Tess Spangenburg, Junior, Softball
