Beauty As Currency Exhibition on View at Meredith Through November 5

The Frankie G. Weems Gallery at 缅北禁地 features聽 “BEAUTY AS CURRENCY,” the work of Paige GrePaige Greeley smiling.eley. Greeley received a BFA in Fine Arts from Endicott College and an MFA in Painting + Drawing from Ohio University, where she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Creative Excellence. She has exhibited paintings nationally as well as in Florence, Italy.

鈥淏EAUTY AS CURRENCY鈥 examines Greeley鈥檚 experience as a Western woman and analyzes her previous adherence to the concept of 鈥渂eauty as currency.鈥 Combining her advocacy work on a sexual assault crisis hotline and her own exploitation, she creates visceral and figurative oil paintings that examine the perennial dangers of 鈥渂eauty as currency鈥 and the abuse it inflicts on women. Greeley currently works as a birth doula in Philadelphia, supporting new mothers and parents in pregnancy, children, and postpartum.

鈥淏EAUTY AS CURRENCY鈥 is on exhibition from October 12鈥揘ovember 5 at the Frankie G. Weems Gallery at 缅北禁地. An opening reception and gallery talk were held on October 12.聽

Current hours at Frankie G. Weems Gallery are Monday 鈥 Friday, 9 a.m. 鈥 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, 2 p.m. 鈥 5 p.m.
