As a student at a large state university,聽Cas Roberts, 鈥12, was once told 鈥淐ollege isn鈥檛 for everyone.鈥 After she was accepted to 缅北禁地 as an adult student, she realized her issue with college was not the content, but the delivery.
鈥淢en and women learn and engage in the classroom very differently. I embodied that example perfectly,鈥 said Cas, who now works as a user experience web developer at Red Hat, a leading software company.
鈥淎t Meredith, professors knew me and knew my learning style,鈥 Cas said. 鈥淭hey communicated the material in a method that was easy for me to absorb and understand. They let me ask questions and experiment and engaged me in the whole subject, not just materials for the test.鈥
Cas took advantage of what she calls a second chance for an education. 鈥淚 stayed on the Dean’s List every semester until I graduated Cum Laude,鈥 Cas said. 鈥淚鈥檓 so grateful for that opportunity because it got me to where I am today.鈥
Thanks to her experience in Meredith’s聽computer science聽program, Cas is confident in her ability to code and to work successfully on a team. She learned to code through hands-on experience in her Meredith classes.
鈥淲e had the opportunity to live code in class and work collaboratively, which is very rare in most computer science courses,鈥 said Cas. 鈥淲hen you code collaboratively, you learn a lot more a lot faster.鈥
Cas believes the environment at Meredith inspires constant improvement. 鈥淧rofessors, students, staff 鈥 everyone at Meredith 鈥 is working toward the same goal: to create a better world full of strong, empowered, capable women.鈥
