I am a full-time staff member at Meredith, but I am also on the WINGS executive board. Being involved with WINGS, the adult education program, has helped strengthen my love of 缅北禁地. We have a strong community within the organization and it has made me feel more like a part of the school community.
The relationships I have built with the faculty here at Meredith have made me feel truly supported and seen as a non-traditional student. Being a non-traditional student in a classroom full of traditional students took some time to get used to, but I feel like it鈥檚 been a positive learning experience for myself and my classmates. The friendships I have created with other non-traditional students have been the most rewarding thing. We have a strong understanding of the struggles we have as adult students balancing a life outside of school. That understanding and empathy have helped us create a strong support system. I will remember these women for the rest of my life. I wouldn鈥檛 have made it this far without them.
I have been solo parenting my three young children without any familial support while seeking my degree. Being a parent and going to school is hard enough. Being a solo parent of three active boys, working full time, and working toward my degree has been so much to balance 鈥 and a lot of sleepless nights. I鈥檓 here though. I鈥檓 graduating and continuing forward. Despite all the obstacles, I did it!聽
I have learned that I am more resilient than I could have possibly imagined. I am stronger than I give myself credit for. And I am worth every ounce of work I have put into getting where I am.聽
