Dr. York has been a professor at 缅北禁地 since 1999. She holds a bachelor of science degree from Elon University, master of science degree in Economics from UNC-Charlotte, and听 doctor of philosophy degree in Economics from North Carolina State University. Dr. York听 serves as the Program Director for the Economics major, is the advisor to the international听 economics honor society, Omicron Delta Epsilon, and recently served as co-chair of the College听 Tenure & Promotion Committee.听听
Dr. York鈥檚 fields of expertise are in labor and health economics. Her main area of interest is听 gender differences in the labor market, which is shown by her research and writings. Dr. York听 was involved in public service when she was appointed by the Governor to serve for five years听 as Chairperson of the North Carolina Internship Council. Dr. York鈥檚 expertise is often quoted in听 news outlets such as USNews.com, WRAL TechWire, The Conversation, CNBC.com, WUNC,听 USAToday.com, MSNBC.com, HR Executive Magazine Online, Pew Charitable Trusts,听 Forbes.com, and Mainstreet.com. Dr. York is a lifelong North Carolinian, being born and raised听 in Charlotte and now resides in Raleigh with her husband, son, and two rescue dogs.听
