SUMMARY:Meredith Abroad Summer Program: Costa Rica Field Research in Tropical Ecosystems
DESCRIPTION:Participate in hands-on workshops on wildlife monitoring and field techniques at Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Preserve\, Veragua Rainforest\, and Caribbean coast. \nCosta Rica boasts one of the richest diversities of flora and fauna in the world! This course involves two weeks of study in cloud\, coastal\, and wet forests\, and experiencing 鈥減ura vida\,鈥� the pure life that makes up the culture of Costa Rica. This program partners with local organizations focused on conservation\, research\, and education in Costa Rica\, to provide students with a 鈥淢ountains-to-Sea鈥� experience that explores the cloud forest\, lowland rainforest\, and Caribbean sea through the lens of local biodiversity experts. The program includes excursions to nearby cities and regions\, including Milan\, Florence\, Arezzo\, and Anghiari\, offering a dynamic view of Italy鈥檚 cultural and fashion heritage. An independent travel weekend allows for further exploration beyond the classroom. \nImmerse yourself in the heart of Italy during this three-week interdisciplinary study abroad experience. DESCRIPTION:Costa Rica is known for its hospitality and natural beauty\, so whether you are a major or minor or just looking to improve your Spanish skills\, this program will help you to learn the language in an engaging way that promises new experiences and increased confidence. \nThe program is based in the colonial town of San Joaqu铆n de Flores in the Central Valley\, where you will live with a host family and study at a local language school. Throughout the program you will embark on a number of different aventuras including a group weekend excursion to a rural mountain town\, a visit to waterfalls\, cooking and dance classes\, and a tour of a coffee farm. You will also have the opportunity to travel independently.
