DESCRIPTION:Join us for a fairy tale adventure unlike any other with our June 13th installment of Museum Movie Night. When a green ogre named Shrek discovers his swamp has been ‘swamped’ with all sorts of fairytale creatures by the scheming Lord Farquaad\, Shrek sets out with a very loud donkey by his side to ‘persuade’ Farquaad to give Shrek his swamp back. Instead\, a deal is made. Farquaad\, who wants to become the King\, sends Shrek to rescue Princess Fiona\, who is awaiting her true love in a tower guarded by a fire-breathing dragon. But once they head back with Fiona\, it starts to become apparent that not only does Shrek\, an ugly ogre\, begin to fall in love with the lovely princess\, but Fiona is also hiding a huge secret. In addition to science activities and stations before the movie\, we’ll host an expert and movie trivia (with prizes) following the screening. Tours will take place at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. \nThis new guided walking tour will connect the history of the Capitol to individuals highlighted in Freedom Park. Tour topics include the enslaved men whose skill and labor constructed the Capitol\, the stories of the Civil Rights movement in downtown Raleigh\, and the African Americans who fought for freedom across our state’s history. \nThe tours will meet on the east grounds of the Capitol\, are entirely outdoors\, and last 45 minutes to 1 hour. DESCRIPTION:Whether your daughter is a novice soccer player who is just beginning in this wonderful sport\, an experienced player striving to gain an edge against her opponents\, or a team preparing to capture a league or tournament championship\, the Meredith Soccer Camp offers a training environment and program designed to meet your needs. The camp is open to girls ages 5 – 13. \nTechnical skills will be developed by group as well as one on one coaching and instruction. Tactical aspects of the game will be developed in small-sided games and competitions. Leadership lessons will be woven into the instruction and emphasized every day. \n\nBring a soccer ball\, shin-guards\, water bottle. SUMMARY:Meredith STEM College
DESCRIPTION:Meredith STEM College is an opportunity for rising 10th\, 11th\, and 12th-grade women to develop their interest in science. \nIf you are selected for the program you will have the opportunity to participate in a two-week residential\, simulated biomedical summer experience on Meredith’s campus. You’ll also earn three college credit hours. \nSummer College is a residential experience that will run Monday through Friday for two consecutive weeks. Students are expected to participate for all ten days and must provide their own transportation to and from the campus each Sunday and Friday. Students must arrive on campus no later than 9 p.m. each Sunday and depart no later than 5 p.m. on Friday unless a late activity is planned. Dates for the two-week Summer College are June 16 – June 20 and June 23 – 27\, 2025 (Monday through Friday of each week). If there is sufficient interest in the program\, a second program will be offered July 7 – 11 and July 14-18\, 2025 (Monday through Friday of each week).
