The chance to build community with Meredith graduates that I may not have met otherwise, the dedicated studio space, time to work with past professors I worked with in college, the chance to spend time in a building聽that served as the substrate for much of my formation in college.聽
Currently
Since “graduating” from the AIR program, I have prioritized nurturing my creative practice by carving out studio space in my home and making space to use my sewing machine again! I work a day job with a mission I care about that provides just enough hours to pay the bills and the rest of the time I focus on creating, imagining, building community through planning workshops, assisting in a gallery I love, submitting to shows, working on my website, and whatever else my creative practice and current body of work call for at the time. Swimming as much as possible, going to house shows, planning things with friends, traveling…All of these activities outside of the studio are crucial to my creative process.
Future
In the future I hope to reach some specific milestones such as curating and installing a group show as well as earning my MFA in a program that feels like the right fit for me (and is fully funded ;)) In the immediate future I want to continue to collaborate with friends and loved ones to create intimate programming/workshops that allow for gathering and community building through words/visuals/sounds/the creative process/experiencing life itself!
