Move-In Day and New Student Orientation begin this weekend at 缅北禁地! While you may be excited to start your college journey, you may also be experiencing a few nerves. That鈥檚 completely normal. In today鈥檚 blog, we go over what you can expect once you arrive on campus. We hope this eases any nerves you may have.
For first-year students, orientation is a four-day program full of opportunities to connect with staff, faculty, and fellow students. Orientation begins on the Saturday before the first day of classes, with those living on campus moving into their residence halls in the morning. Be sure to check the New Student Orientation page for information on your move-in slot. Commuter students can find their check-in time on that page, too.
Programming begins in the afternoon. You can expect a welcome session, a meeting with your student advisor, dinner, and a movie. For the next three days, you will attend required sessions to help you seamlessly transition to college, including a library tour and strengths training.
Optional activities such as a storyboard workshop, pickleball, and a camp night with s鈥檓ores are also on the schedule 鈥 the perfect time to meet new friends and have fun! Orientation will conclude with Meredith鈥檚 First Day of Class (FDOC) Eve traditions, which include a tour of the president鈥檚 residence, dinner and dessert, and the Honor Code Ceremony.
If you鈥檙e a transfer or Wings student, you likely had the option to sign up for the fast-track orientation. This one-day program on Tuesday includes sessions to familiarize yourself with resources and support on campus. Both orientation groups will come together at the end of the day for FDOC Eve traditions.
We hope this blog prepares you for what鈥檚 to come at orientation and helps calm any nerves. During orientation, our community of current students, faculty, staff, and alumnae will be there to support you through this transition. We encourage you to ask questions and reach out if you need help. We look forward to welcoming you into the Meredith community!
